Literature Text

The time you spent with Bucky was faster than you thought it would be.

After eating the pancakes you had done, Bucky stayed in silent. His stance has changed, and you notice his body tense, although he seems a bit more relaxed in your presence, to his expression was pure tension and alert. You hesitated between talk to him or leave him quiet and so with time, he would talk to you.

"You were there," he said after a while.

You were busy writing some reports to the hospital, when he spoke again, you had almost forgotten Bucky's presence.

“What?” you asked.

Bucky lifted his gaze to look at you completely.

"In the museum, I saw you there, [Name]."

You stayed in silent for a while, trying to understand what he was talking about, until you remembered.

Soon after Bucky had appeared in your apartment for the second time, your friend Lucy had dragged you to the Museum, where an exhibition to Captain America (or Steve Rogers) was going on. You remembered being without animation to see the exhibition, because you were worried about Bucky. You also remembered seeing a part of the exhibition of Steve's best friend and you saw a man standing in the distance, staring at the picture. You had thought how the two were alike and how Bucky was also similar to Steve's best friend, in the exhibition.

And you also remembered the name that was written very big in that part of the exhibition.

James Buchanan Barnes.

Your eyes widened a little, and you got up from the chair that you was, and sat on the couch, close to Bucky.

"Yes, I... I've been there with a friend" you answered with a voice a little hoarse.

Bucky stayed silent, his expression always in confusion

"I'm remembering..." he murmured and you looked at him.

"You lost your memory?" You asked, very carefully in order to not irritate him or make him close the door he was opening for you.

Bucky took a while to answer.

"I think so... The only thing I could remember was that my name was Bucky and I knew the man on the bridge..."

The man on the bridge? you thought.

"What else can you remember?" You asked again.

Bucky frowned in concentration.

"I remember you" he said "You were on the street asking me if I needed help"

You nodded. That was the first time you'd seen him. He was still dressed in that the Winter Soldier armor and was fighting with a blond man and that redheaded woman who had helped you and told you to stay away from that street, that was too dangerous. You wondered if he remembered that he was fighting with those two.

"I-I pushed you..." he said and then his expression became guilt, looking at you like he was trying to tell you he was sorry.

"It's okay, I wasn't hurt" you reassured, touching his hand.

"But I could have," he said, his voice becoming louder.

"But you didn't" you answered with a soft voice and gave a little squeeze in your hand "It's okay"

Bucky looked at you, and you couldn't identify the look he was giving you. He took a deep breath and then spoke again.

"I remember my name," he said, "My full name"

Bucky was silent, and you waited for him to speak. You didn't want to push him to talk, you want him to feel safe and that he could trust you to reveal about it to you.

"James Buchanan Barnes" his voice became lower "That exhibition... where I saw you."

When he looked at you, you felt that you should say something to him.

"I didn't know it was you... until you mentioned that you saw me there," you said with all sincerity that could leave overflowing in your voice.

Bucky seemed to believe you, because he continued to speak.

"The Captain America's best friend, said in the exhibition, I was the best friend of the man on the bridge" his voice became colder and you could feel a sarcastic tone "I was fighting with him... I was going to kill him! He was my mission! "

“Bucky…”

He got up and you saw his hands pressed into fists.

"He said he wouldn't fight me, said he knew me, I..."

Bucky's voice became louder, and he was walking around the room, and you noticed that he was getting increasingly nervous and angry.

"Bucky... you didn't know-

"But he told me!" He interrupted you and you suddenly stilled. "H-He told me, and yet I..."

You got up and without thinking, you threw your arms around him and hugged him. Bucky was shaking and tense.

"It's okay Bucky" you muttered "You didn't know... you had no memories."

Hesitating and still shaking a little, Bucky returned your embrace. You could feel his hot breath on your neck.

"I saved him ..." he said after he broke away from your embrace

"And he is alive because of you" you gave a small smile to him

Bucky's hands were still holding your arms and he was looking at you intensely, and you felt the blood rushing to your cheeks. Then he turned away from you and went into the bathroom.

You could feel your heart beating too fast in your chest.

Suddenly you heard the Bucky's footsteps hurried in the hall and he appeared in the room, looking a little disturbed.

"What happened?" You asked a little scared.

"I need to go" he replied grabbing the jacket he had taken when he arrived at your apartment.

"Why? What's going on?" You asked following him to the door.

He didn't answer, but stopped at the door and looked at you.

"I'll be back" he promised.

Then without another word, he disappeared down the stairs.

Yes, I know. I told you guys that I was going to be faster in this chapter, but write block is a bitch. And I'm so sorry.
